CREEPER

An experimental computer program created in 1971, Creeper was the first computer worm!! It was a test created to demonstrate the possibility of a self-replicating program that could spread to other computers. It did not cause any damage to data, but printed a message from each computer it infected reading "I'M THE CREEPER : CATCH ME IF YOU CAN". Although Creeper is not a very impressive virus, it was the first worm, and the first antivirus software (Reaper) was created to stop it! It is an important part of computer virus history!!! That is why I, Technus, give it 3 out of 5 stars!

ILOVEYOU

Oh, this one is one of my favorite viruses! Look at it! It has a gimmick and everything! My favorite computer viruses are the ones with a gimmick- viruses that just overwrite your computer and don't do anything fun are BORING. Where's the pizzazz? The style? This lovebug virus- now THAT has style! There were over 25 variations of the ILOVEYOU virus. Notable variations included email headings such as "Virus ALERT!!!", "Mothers Day Order Confirmation", and "fwd: JOKE". Seriously- one of the variants disguised itself as an antivirus and/or virus warning thing! I do not even need to describe what the virus does to explain why it is my favorite! That is why I, Technus, give it 5 out of 5 stars!

PIKACHU VIRUS

Another worm with a gimmick, this one around Pikachu from Pokemon! It was sent via an email with the heading of "Pikachu Pokemon." The email itself read "Great Friend! Pikachu from Pokemon Theme have some friendly words to say. Visit Pikachu at http://www.pikachu.com. See you." One of the things that makes this virus one of my favorites is its .EXE program. Downloading that and opening it does not just infect your computer with a worm- it also shows an animated image of Pikachu bouncing around with the text "Between millions of people around the world i found you. Don’t forget to remember this day every time MY FRIEND!"

I love this virus! It really feels like it just wants to be my friend. However, it is not as effective as other viruses. The code to delete the user's operating system on next boot-up does not quite work properly. It gives the user a prompt asking if they want to delete essential files, and if the user clicks "no," the worm does nothing. That is why I, Technus, give this virus 4 and 1/2 out of 5 stars!
